The deepest lake in Lithuania – Tauragnas – meets the visitors in Aukštaitija National Park, Tauragnas town, which is only 15 kilometres away from Utena. Winding lines of the lake, high bank and clear water makes this miracle of nature even more charming. In summer, the shore of this lake is a big gathering place for nature lovers. This place attracts families with children, fishermen and travellers.
Holidaymakers and tourists coming to the recreation site “The Valley of Tauragnas” on the shore of the lake, can leave their cars at the parking lot and walk along the paths equipped with stairs on the slopes and intermediate grounds. The vastness of Tauragnas Lake may be admired from two floating footbridges with lookout points. The third floating bridge gives an opportunity to moor the boats. Along the lakeside, there are 3 large arbours, outdoor furniture, beach volleyball court, beach boxes and a playground for kids. The territory of the recreation site is illuminated with modern lamps.
The water here is rather cool since the deepest place in Tauragans Lake reaches up to 62.1 m, therefore it does not warm up very fast, even if the summer is very sunny. The lakeside is also very suitable for exercise – it is very pleasant to feel the ground here on your bare feet, as the sandy coast provides a lot of pleasant sensations.
A blue sky, warm rays of sun, peacefulness of the forest situated nearby – all of this together creates special moments near the water. In winter, on the ice of this lake there are many admirers of winter, who are taking the opportunity to catch the fish from the waters of the deepest lake in the country. People who love ice skating, clean the snow from the firmly frozen lake and establish a skating rink, suitable for amateurs. The sense of freedom and space is guaranteed!
